S39 Livery badge - Warwick bear & ragged Staff

The bear & ragged staff is one of the most famous & recognisable of medieval household badges. It was used by the Earls of Warwick throughout the 14th & 15th centuries, most famously by Richard Neville (the ‘Kingmaker’) 1428-71. Pewter livery badges were distributed to a nobleman’s ‘affinity’ as a means to ensure support & loyalty.
